If celtel is now Zain What is safaricom….Pain?
From kencell to Celtel to Zain, the metamorphosis of a mobile phone service operator continues. When I first saw the Zain logo all over the place what went through my mind was ‘Here comes another hair product that promises wonders.’ Clearly I was so damn wrong. when I was finally warming up to Celtel they just had to switch their style to fit the new owner’s vision.
In a lecture I attended, the lecturer thought that Zain has just jumped off the frying pan into the fire.To some extent I think it’s true. Safaricom is still the leader of the pack not because they have impeccable services (their services are plain bogus don’t you agree?) but because of the genius advertising campaigns that target the ordinary mwananchi creating this perception that Safaricom ni ‘Mtandao wa watu’. I get this feeling that Zain targets the Alvaro drinkers and is colorful yes but can all subscribers and would be subscribers relate?
It’s been forever since my last update and during that period of time many things have come to pass. The Grand foresight from my 1st post has come to pass.By this i mean the manifestation of grand corruption in the saga involving Kimunya (remember him?) and the sell of the grand regency hotel. Esther Passaris didn’t get the chance to upgrade Embakasi after biting the dust. The grand coalition is still holding up good, peace prevails and things are looking good Thank God. I’ll try my best to be consistent from this point on so keep on visiting my blog and leaving your views on my post. It’s good to be back.
